I can't believe it my baby is 1! He is such a happy little man, and brings so much joy to our whole family!
B is still not walking, which really surprises me since he has been mobile for so long (crawling and such)... I am sure it will be soon! I am secretly hoping that he waits 10 more days so his first steps can be in our new house. I'm all about where the memories happen!
We had a really small birthday celebration for B. We had a great time celebrating with our dear friends. And ended the evening with a mini dance party! Now that is how we do life : )
Happy Birthday B! We love you soooo much little man!

Morning Nap
We are in Colorado visiting my family and celebrating my Dad's birthday!!
And it seems to be that each time we travel someone in our family gets sick : (
Little B-man is sick, horrible cough, fever, he is just sad!
I was up with him at 4:30am
Then up with all the kids at 6:30am
I was wiped out
Sweet B couldn't fall asleep for his morning nap
Little man fussed for 45 minutes
I knew he was so tired... and so was I...
So I scooped him up
We crawled into the huge king bed
And laid down
He wrestled around for a little while trying to get cozy,
He thought the most comfortable position was to crawl across me
And that is how we fell asleep, his sweet knees on the bed, and chubby cheeks on my chest
This mama soaked it in
At home I would have never had the chance for this morning snooze with my baby
I would have had "too much to do"
I would have had 2 big kids needing my attention
But today, I fully embraced one beauty of vacation, and snuggled my littlest Love so his tired body could get some much needed rest!
Thank you Mr. Steady for taking the big kids on a hike!
Thank you Lord, for the precious time with my baby! Help me to stop more often at home and take full advantage of sweet times like this!

11 Months old!!
... and a few days... running behind, as usual : )
I honestly can't believe that B is already 11 months old! What is even more crazy is that it was right after Bug turned 11 months old, we found out that B was on the way!
I honestly can't believe that B is already 11 months old! What is even more crazy is that it was right after Bug turned 11 months old, we found out that B was on the way!
Anyway, update about our our sweet, amazing, little surprise...
Stands up not holding on to anything
Not walking yet, but walking around all furniture, walking holding onto my finger... today he even let go, and took 2 steps toward the couch... though I couldn't get him to do it again.
Has 4 teeth and 2 more breaking through
Eating mostly table food, hardly any babyfood
grinds his 4 little teeth... what!? Gives me the chills every time I hear it!
Has decided that 6:15am is a grand time to wake up every morning!
Loves to dance, bounces to the beat, claps his hands, shakes his head, full on dances! It runs in his genes, what can I say : )
Fast, down right speedy crawler
Not too much has changed since last month
I can't believe that my next B update will be when he is one year old. Uggh, this season of life is rushing by. I'm trying not to blink, I don't want to miss a thing!

10 Months Old!
Little Bro is 10 months and a few days old {this mama is running a little behind}
Some of B's latest skills and realities...
Walking around furniture
Speed crawling
Climbing stairs
Drinking formula, and starting to hold his own bottle (Seems late to some of ya, I know)
Goes limp (in protest) arms above his head when you pick him up when he doesn't want you to... or when laying him down for the change pad
Loves the dishwasher and Tupperware cupboard, even though they are both off limits... throws fit when I move him away
Knows his name, will stop and look at you
Mr. Smiles
Loving cheese and yogurt, doing well with dairy
Loves music and will dance along
Loves to put ALL things in his mouth... as you could see on the Easter Photos.
Plays Peek-a-Boo
Has 3 teeth, and a 4th ready to poke through any day
Loves to be tickled
Loves to eat, especially bread
And my favorite picture from this month of B...
If one is good, two must be better!!

9 Months
B-man is 9 months old. Has this gone by fast to anyone other than me? Are you all tired of hearing me say how quickly time is FLYING by right now?
So I think the teething fairy came and stole my chill little dude and temporarily gave me a grumpy, wants to be held all of the time, waking up occasionally at night, fussy little man. Praying all those darn teeth break through soon so that my laid-back little man returns soon! And while I am on the subject, why does the teething process go so smoothly for some kids and it turns the world up-side-down for others?!?!
So when those stinking teeth are not hurting B, he is still a delight to be around. And this month has 2 big firsts... not walking yet, but probably not too far off : )
B is determined... and I finally caught it on the camera. These shots crack me up!
and he hates to have his plans thwarted... just a little example... I took something out of his hand that he shouldn't have...
I love this little man {teething or content} I can't get enough of him!

Can you see his 2 teeth on bottom... more are coming...

- Standing up! B is pulling himself up to standing, and I have even caught him letting go and balancing for a few seconds.
- Babbling "Mama" and "Dada"! LOVE to hear his sweet little voice. Yesterday Mr. Steady was in the car with the kids. I hopped in the car and started talking, as soon as B heard my voice he started saying "Mama, Mama, Mama" over and over again. Awwh, so cute : )

8 Months...
So this is a week late... but better late than never : )
B-man is 8 months old! Not only is each month flying by, but he is changing WAY faster than my other 2 did at this stage! {Slow down buddy, it is not a race to beat H and Bug}
This month-
Watch out world... I might be walking by my 9 month update!

This month-
- Crawling on hands and knees... will still do the army crawl at times, but is getting faster by the day on his hands and knees.
- Prefers finger-foods to being spoon-fed
- Had his first ear-infection, therefore first round of anti-biotics
- Has 2 little teeth poking through! H and Bug didn't get teeth until they were almost 12 months old!
- Way more aware of his surroundings... Won't sleep on the go : ( And won't transfer if he does fall asleep in the car : (
- Pursues mischief! If there is something to get into that is not for him, he is sure to find it.
- Loves sucking on shoes (YUCK)
- Still has a smile that melts my heart and is one happy little man!

7 Months
B is 7 months old already! And this boy is on the go! Yep, he is mobile... It started with rolling to wherever he wanted to go and now it is a full on army crawl. And he is getting faster by the day... the big kids have to pay extra attention to any toys they don't want B to get : )
Other new things for this month...
- Wanting finger-foods starting to refuse being spoon fed (sometimes not always)
- Starting to get very distracted while nursing, almost impossible to do if Bug is in the same room
- When he wakes up in the morning he turns his mobile on and listens to some tunes
- Puts EVERYTHING in his mouth
- Weighing in at 15 lbs, 15 oz according to the scale at the doctors... slowing down on weight gain, doctor thinks it is because if B is awake he is constantly on the go... burning so many calories : )
- Loves, loves, loves his bro and sis, can't take his eyes off of them
- Happy as always
- Sleeping 12 hours straight at night!
- Starting to show a bit of stubbornness... yikes!
- His smile just melts my heart!

What we eat
I know there are so many schools of thought about what we eat, how it effects us... but in the last few months I have a heightened awareness of how what we eat effects not only us, but our nursing baby. With my first 2 babies I was pretty diligent about avoiding the "common" causes of gas for newborns, chocolate, broccoli, beans, onions and peppers were the top offenders on my list. However, with sweet little B, there was a new one that was even harder for me... DAIRY!
You see I LOVE dairy. Yogurt every morning for breakfast, lunch always involved cheese (grilled cheese, quesadilla, mac and cheese, cheese stick...) then dinner was complimented with a tall glass of milk and then my day ended often with more yogurt. I know any of you that are lactose intolerant are feeling sick to your stomach even thinking about that much dairy. But it is true that is how I used to eat.
When little man was 2 weeks old he kept spitting up a ton, I was starting to get concerned that he wasn't keeping anything down. After a few weeks of trying to figure out if anything I was eating was the culprit I decided to try to give up (or at least severely limit) my dairy. I was skeptical at first, but within 2 days he stopped spitting up. I stayed off of it for a week then tried a little, which caused him to spit up again. Now that he is 7 months I allow myself to have a little bit of dairy, usually in the form of cheese (cause who whats a Double Double without any cheese!!) But even now when his digestive tract should be "more mature" he still struggles if I have more than just a little cheese.
I know that spit-up seems manageable to deal with, how about a really fussy, inconsolable baby. Would you give up dairy then? My friend Rachel had a sweet baby boy a week after B was born. He cried a lot, didn't sleep well and was just really hard. So with the recommendation from her neighbor, Rachel did Dr. Sears Elimination Diet. She said that it was so incredibly difficult, she was down to 8 things that she could eat, yet it was worth it because her baby stopped crying all of the time. It took her 3 days on the diet to notice a difference. She stayed on the limited diet for a couple of weeks before she slowly added back in most food groups. Even now that her baby is 6 months old she is limiting her dairy.
Since hearing Rachel's story, and my own experience with B, I have been able to encourage other moms with fussy babies to give up dairy and so far it has worked for 2 of the 2 moms that I was able to pass the info on to. If your baby is fussy or if they are labeled as having Colic, give it a try. Adjust your diet and see if what you are eating is effecting your sweet little one. Yes it is hard, but no harder than hearing a little one that you love so so much, screaming because their little tummy hurts.
When B was just a few weeks old and I was talking to another mom she reminded me that this is just another example of putting someone elses needs above our own. Uggh, not what I wanted to hear, but oh so true!

Making Baby Food
So as I mentioned in our last post, BB was waking up in the middle of the night again needing some chow-time. As much as I wanted to hold off on solids until after Christmas - traveling with bibs, jars, spoons and the mess just wasn't sounding too fun - we decided that BB was ready to add solids to his daily routine.
We started out with rice ceareal (as recommended). This is what he thought about that...
So I went back to what I did with both H and Bug... I made some sweet potatoes. B was more of a fan of the sweet potatoes...
5. Scoop out of pan and put in food processor or blender, do not discard water. Add water from the pan to cover bottom 1/3 of potatoes
6. Blend. If too thick add more water from pan.
7. Spoon out puree into ice cube tray
8. Let cool to room temperature then cover with plastic wrap.
9. Put tray of food in the freezer. You can either pop out a cube each time you feed your baby. Or after the food is fully frozen, I pop out all of the cubes and store in a freezer bag. Label the bag, cause sweet potatoes, carrots and squash all look the same: )
Enjoy!

You might think that I am crazy to make baby food, but I really enjoy doing it. I think that there are many advantages to making your own baby food...
1. It tastes so much better
2. It costs so much less
3. You know exactly what is in the food... no additives or un-natural ingredients
I bought this The Healthy Baby Meal Planner when H was a baby and have loved it. You don't even necessarily need the book, but it great if you want a little more guidance. Making baby food is so much easier than you might think, here is a quick tutorial of how I make sweet potatoes.
What you need:
Pan for boiling or steaming
Blender or food processor (I have used both and either one will work great)
Ice cube trays
Fruit or veggies
Peeler
...Making sweet potatoes..
1. Wash veggies
2. Peel off skin (H helped with the peeling process, he really wanted to be a part of making B's food)
3. Cut potatoes into cubes between 1/2" to 1"
4. Boil or steam until soft, check with fork. About 20 minutes (I usually steam, but I was making such a large amount it wouldn't fit in my steamer)
5. Scoop out of pan and put in food processor or blender, do not discard water. Add water from the pan to cover bottom 1/3 of potatoes
6. Blend. If too thick add more water from pan.

6 months...
Is my baby really half of a year old?! I know that I say this every month, but this is going by WAY too fast. I wish he could just stay little for a while longer!
He won't stay little, so I will embrace the fact that my baby is out-growing this stage of baby-hood a little too fast. This months changes and new developments include...
- Smiling a lot
-Rolling everywhere, if he wants a toy across the room, little man will roll to it
- Loving tummy-time, pushing up with is arms, almost looks like he is ready to crawl
- Eating food... which happened way too early (but the kid was hungry so we gave it a try)
- Sleeping through the night (again). BB was on a couple week stretch of eating at 4am again, but with the introduction of baby food, sleep is our friend again.
- Found his voice and loves to babble, coo and squeel
- Loves his tongue, sticks it out in all kinds of silly ways
- Loves to put his hands in his mouth and still loves to chew on his toes
BB continues to be a very chill, laid back little man. He is the perfect fit for our little family and we are all so in love with him.

Baby Bro is 5 months!
Oh little man, you are one cute little dude... I know, I am biased, but seriously, such a cutie! B, you are one the move, rolling, grabbing, spinning... you sure can be a busy guy. You are starting to show more determination and exert a little more of an opinion. If you want something you launch your body towards your desired object... warning to anyone that holds you, to hold you tight or you might dive-bomb out of their arms.
Sweet dude, you love pulling and grabbing, and I can personally attest to you strength! You have ever so lovingly pulled out at least 392 handfuls of my hair. Ouch!

You love to put things in your mouth... all things in your mouth!
and who needs a binky when you are this flexible!
Lovin' that big toe! Yummy!
